This trip to the Sacred Valley of the Incas is one of the most impressive during your visit to Cusco, we will visit the most traditional archaeological sites such as the typical market of Pisaq and its archaeological center, Ollantaytambo and the ruins of Chinchero. It is the second most visited place in Cusco after the trip within the City.
PISAQ
A small city is a large archaeological complex located in the district of Pisac, province of Calca, 33 km away. east of the city of Cusco visited by many tourists daily. There is a strange coincidence between the distances that unite the cities of Pisac, Cusco and Pikillacta, these coincide at 30 km. By joining these three cities with a straight line, a perfect equilateral triangle is achieved that creates multiple speculations about the incredible architectural genius that the Incas had. The beauty of its walls, built with large stone blocks polished with extraordinary symmetry and unmatched handling of stone, leaves the visitor perplexed. It has a very colorful market and amazing Inca architecture in the place called Complejo de Intihuatana.
URUBAMBA
The traditional town of Urubamba is one of the 7 districts that belong to the Province of the same name, the names of The Heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, The Pearl of Vilcanota have been attributed to it, it has a temperate and welcoming climate, this city Today it is one of the most beautiful in the Sacred Valley located 57 km from the city of Cusco at an approximate height of 2,870 meters above a plain that separates the central mountain range from the Andes. The Incas, as great experts, chose this land to establish their main towns. Its fertile fields are irrigated with the waters of the Vilcanota River, which upon entering the Province takes the name of the Urubamba River. Here we will have lunch (included) at the TUNUPA or Similar Restaurant. Afterwards we will continue to the archaeological center of Ollantaytambo.
OLLANTAYTAMBO
It is one of the most monumental architectural complexes of the Inca Empire, commonly called “Fortress”, due to its enormous walls, it was actually a Tambo or accommodation city strategically located to dominate the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Ollantaytambo is located in the district of the same name, province of Urubamba, approximately 60 km. northwest of the city of Cusco and with a height of 2792 meters above sea level. It is built on the side of a hill called Bandolista, its name means “Tambo de Ollanta” and is called Tambo or Tampu in Quechua.
It is a city where the design of the archaeological complex is confused with the current town. There is a very fine class of architecture, from the entrance you can see a main square, with its narrow streets, it is the main place to visit on the tour to Sacred Valley.

Maras: It is located 7 kilometers from Moray and 3,380 meters above sea level. Historically founded in the year 1556 by the encomendero Captain Pedro Ortiz de Orué, as part of the reductions imposed by Viceroy Francisco de Toledo. It has salt mines, which were already exploited since the Inca times as a means of economic exchange and values. Maras is a small town, like a model of a miniature city. From Maras you can go to visit the salt mines along a bridle path, where it is common to find herds of mules carrying bags of salt extracted from the natural salt mines.
Moray: It is located 47 kilometers from Cusco. In Moray you can see the Inca greenhouse or agricultural laboratory, formed by four amphitheaters or platforms of superimposed concentric circular stones and with an approximate depth of 150 meters, like rings that widen as they ascend. There are those who believe that these constructions may have served as an amphitheater for civic-religious ceremonies and not only for agricultural purposes.
Chinchero: : Located 28 kilometers from Cusco and is surrounded by the beautiful snow-capped mountains of Chichón and Verónica. It is a very charming town, due to its Hispanic constructions and the fact that it was an important agricultural center during the Tawantinsuyo. In its square you can still see the stone walls with trapezoidal niches that serve as a framework for the traditional Sunday market, where barter or exchange is still practiced. As an anecdotal fact, the women of Chinchero style their hair with numerous braids. The Mirador area is recommended for hang gliding and paragliding.
